Set in the beautiful lakes country of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, this inaugural festival will have intimate workshops, author readings, and time to socialize and connect with your fellow word nerds.
This inclusive, welcoming, cozy weekend will be open to all. Whether you're a long-time published author, a hobby writer, or have a secret desire to put pen to paper that you haven't even told your dog, you are welcome.

Workshop
Writing Yourself as a Character
This virtual workshop will focus on how we write ourselves into our stories. Most commonly this is found in memoirs and creative nonfiction, however we can also find ourselves in our fictional stories.
How do we write about ourselves objectively?
Sometimes we're the main character, with honest strengths and flaws, and sometimes we're on the page to help move the story forward. Sometimes we surprise ourselves. Sometimes we don't like what comes out.
We'll process how to step out of ourselves, back into ourselves, and put it all on the page with grace for our delicate human egos.
